Humble Beginnings

The idea of putting up a school sprouted merely as an elusive dream of the power couple Mr. Pazramer Fiedacan Fadrilan and Ms. Lucille Recayo Fadrilan ( both educators by profession ) : to be of service to the young. Such seed-like dream eventually got its shape, grew and became concrete. Thanks to the Almighty for having bestowed to the couple the much needed strength, determination and wisdom to have conceived and given birth to Little Goldenians Learning School ( LGLS ).

1994 saw the real beginning of the school. It really entailed mind-boggling and nerve-cracking works before its inception. tended.

In May of the same year, the one classroom structure stood up and was blessed. Formal classes were finally conducted in June. Ms. Lucille, being the lone teacher to 37 Kindergarten pupils, felt really blessed. Assuming the responsibilities of not only a mentor, but also that of a counsellor, a librarian, a nurse, a janitress, and the likes; likewise, posed a great challenge on her part. But armed with faith, patience, confidence and zeal for the God-given gifts, Ms. Lucille remained fired-up. With the overwhelming success in the first two years of operation, and the popular clamor of parents to open a grade school, the couple-synergy surged up.

1996 saw the rise of the Primary Department. With divine providence, adjacent lot was purchased and housed grades one and two. Simultaneously, the Pre-elementary Department was granted the much-yearned Government Recognition that inspired LGLS all the more in its pursuit of quality education. Again, the manifestations of God’s grace was equally felt and seen.

In March 1997, Little Goldenians Learning School was renamed as La Verne Academy. It is derived from the Latin word vernus, meaning Spring and Green. Spring refers to love, hope, youth and growth. It also symbolizes new life. The couple believed that spring and green are associated with abundance, and so it was then regarded as Spring and Grain. The school believes that the grain of knowledge will spring forth a LVA and will bear fruits of success in the future. In June of same year, grade three was opened and LVA continuously soared high in its vision.

December 1998 was another year of triumph and celebration for LVA when it got its Government Permit to operate complete Elementary Course. And in March 2000, LVA proudly conferred diploma of completion to its first batch of grade 6 graduates composed of 12 pupils. Two years after, LVA was granted Government Recognition for its Elementary Course! Two additional lots were purchased and expansion of building was done. It was indeed a great and blissful year for the school!

Year 2002 changed the landscape of LVA. The steady growth of enrollees and the popularity of the school within and beyond the subdivision opened the doors to a bolder decision; the birth of its High School Department! LVA became and a non-stock non-profit corporation under the new name, LA VERNE ACADEMY, INC.

In 2005, the much-awaited Government Recognition finally came! And in March of 2006, the first batch of High School students jubilantly received their diploma of graduation. It was a great manifestation of hard labor, commitment and dedication of all the stakeholders.
